After yelling at a totally innocent Melissa Gilbert via Twitter, I have decided to try and use my brain to be a grown up that can communicate in a constructive manner. It's not easy being a fucking MANIAC.
Hola Ken Howard and Everyone from SAG,
This was the only email address on your "contact us" page.
Was just reading an article about Honey Boo Boo Child only making $4,000 an episode and I just had to write to you to say that I think SAG needs to get involved. My concern is that if SAG doesn't start representing and protecting these Reality Personalities that eventually actors' rates will be affected and the rates for all union crews will also take a severe hit. It seems like we have less negotiating power with each passing year and I am worried that our unions will eventually vanish.
I work behind the scenes in New York (so I don't totally understand how SAG/AFTRA works) but I am finding that many MAJOR NETWORK, money-making productions are using non-union crew to perform vital functions behind the scenes on an increasing and alarming basis.
SAG has the most visible and popular Union Workers in the world. Famous SAG members can be so instrumental in helping to protect all of the behind-the-scenes people who work in our industry. We need the most visible members to use their star power to help protect the rights of everyone in this business. We need them to help inspire American workers to get unionized.
Please, SAG, take a more active and high profile role in the defense and promotion of UNIONS. We need you.
